Использование окончания -ING в сложных предложениях:
1. чтобы показать, что два действия происходили в одно и то же время, или что одно действие случилось сразу после другого
The escalators became central to the composition of the building, falling and rising diagonally.
2. чтобы показать причину, результат или основание действия. В таких сложных предложениях можно использовать с глаголами состояния, которые обычно не используются в длительном времени
Believing that everyday objects should be useful or beautiful, I made the home a work of art.
3. в придаточных предложениях времени или контраста. Такие придаточные предложения начинаются с союза
Although working on a tight budget wasn't easy, I enjoyed redecorating my house.
